The Losing Game: Writing Acceptance 6/? 2020
Hello out there. Do you miss outside as much as I do? I miss outside so much. It looks really nice out the window, all blue and green and fragrant and crap. Let that be the greatest of our hardships, the missing of outside. I hope you and yours are doing well during these plaguey times, I hope you're finding ways to create pockets of joy. I hope you post photos of whatever you're cooking and baking, I hope you post videos of your work outs, I hope you tweet updates of your video game progress, I hope you cross all of the animals. (I don't know what that game is about.) It's a weird time to be sharing any good news, and to be honest I haven't felt compelled to keep up with this blog or to do much of anything lately. But my spreadsheet is getting ornery. The different reds and greens and oranges are bugging me. The only way to allay the irk is to post. Besides, I'm thrilled to have an acceptance. Any happy thing during these times of grief and isolation feels amplified. This acceptance is fun in particular because A) it's from The Maynard, who I love, and B) for the first time in our writing careers, my best human and I will appear in the same issue. It's a double whammy.
The issue should be going live any day now, so keep your eyes peeled! (Why is that expression so gross? Who is peeling eyes? It's basically cannibal talk.) You know what's not gross? This awesome acceptance.
[WRITING ACCEPTANCE 6/?] Dear Erin,
We are delighted to accept your "There is No Substitute For Good Planning" for publication in the Spring 2020 issue of The Maynard to be released on April 15 at www.themaynard.org. Congratulations!
Thank you for contributing to The Maynard. We are thrilled to publish your poetry.
Sincerely,
Spring 2020 issue |Â The Maynard
I hope you're all keeping well. If any of you need a recipe for strawberry banana bread, send me a message. We'll keep each other in tasty things. Until next time, all good wishes. - E.B. Kirsh
