The Losing Game: Writing Rejections 17-22/100

Happy Valentine's Day you gorgeous nerds. I hope you're either feeling the love or finding likeminded people to commiserate about the commercialized nature of the holiday with. Whichever you prefer. Me, I'm being kept company by a thick stack of rejections. Is that my favourite kind of thick stack? No, but I can get down with it. At any rate, it certainly seems to be able to get down with me. But it doesn't get me down! Down diddy de down down. Okay. This has gotten away from me. It's rejection time!

[WRITING REJECTION 17/100] Dear Erin Kirsh, Thank you for your submission to Longleaf Review. Although your work was not selected for publication this time around, we truly appreciated the opportunity to read it. Warm Regards, Editor in Chief

[WRITING REJECTION 18/100] Dear Erin Kirsh: Thank you for sending us "1 Short Story". We appreciate the chance to read your writing. Unfortunately, we have not chosen this work for our upcoming issue. Best of luck in placing it elsewhere. We discourage replies to this notice about your submission’s final status as we may not have time to read through or reply to any. You may contact us through the email link on our website if you have a specific inquiry or comment with a fresh subject line that indicates your topic, please. We appreciate you looking to Gigantic Sequins as a journal where you'd like to see your work in print. Sincerely, the Gigantic Sequins editors

[WRITING REJECTION 19/100] Dear Erin: Thanks so much for giving us the opportunity to consider Short Story for Slice. Due to the high volume of submissions we receive, we regret that we aren't able to respond to each submission personally. Unfortunately, your piece isn't the best fit for our upcoming issue and so we're passing. Your writing did stand out to us, though We hope you are encouraged by this brief note and that you will submit to Slice again in the future. Best wishes, The Editors

[WRITING REJECTION 20/100] Dear Erin, Thank you for sending us "Poem." While we enjoyed reading your work, we're sorry to say it isn't a good fit for us at this time. Our submissions queue continues to grow, and we often have to reject many excellent pieces. Thanks again for trusting us with your work. Best of luck with this and all of your writing. Sincerely, The Editors Split Lip Magazine

[WRITING REJECTION 21/100] Dear Erin, Thank you for sharing this work with The Adroit Journal. After a review of your submission, the staff has decided that it unfortunately is not quite right for the journal at this time. Best of luck placing this work elsewhere, and we hope to hear from you again soon! Sincerely, The Adroit Journal

[WRITING REJECTION 22/100] We have read your submission, and unfortunately we are not able to use it in The Threepenny Review.  Please do not take this as a comment on the quality of your writing; we receive so many submissions that we are able to accept only a small fraction of them. Thank you for sending your work to us, and please accept our apologies for the automated message system. We wish we had time to reply to everyone individually. The Editors

Until next time folks! - E.B. Kirsh
